Our Networks business unit is responsible for connecting 7.8 million customers to our electricity distribution networks and keeping the lights on in London, the South East and East of England, providing customers with power whenever they need it.
We operate the electrical system outside your house, the cables in or under your street and direct the power from our network to the main fuse and meter in your home.
Our networks are vast. Altogether, there are 170,000 kilometres of underground cables and overhead lines – enough to stretch several times the circumference of the planet! – and 66,300 substations.
