London
We run the electricity network that serves 2 million customers in London, running a network that covers an area of 722 square kilometres. The customer base includes government departments and internationally known stores, such as Harrods, as well as a number of private networks. These include the London Underground, Heathrow Airport, Canary Wharf and the new Channel Tunnel Rail Link between Kent and London St Pancras station.
South East England
We are responsible for the electricity network serving 2.2 million customers in the South East. The network covers an area of 8,327 square kilometres incorporating a 45,000km network and 35,000 substations. The private networks we supply in this area include Gatwick Airport and the remainder of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link.
East of England (South)
Our network in the East of England serves some key customers such as Ford, GlaxoSmithKline, Beechams and Sanofi-Aventis. It will also support a number of activities that are part of the London 2012 Olympic Games, which are taking place in the Lea Valley. Our maintenance team for this region manages the building and fabric maintenance of the Operation Substation Estate, which currently comprises some 71,000 sites across our three licensed network areas.
East of England (North)
This electricity network serves 1.5 million customers in the East Anglia region. It is made up of 330 primary and 45,000 secondary substations. Our Control and Contact Centre is based at Fore Hamlet in Ipswich, where we employ over 400 employees and are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks of the year including Christmas Day.
