Your training
An extensive development programme awaits all our graduates, with company wide, business unit and role-specific technical training giving you an in depth understanding of the organisation as well as the specific role you will play within it.
When you first arrive you will join your fellow graduates at a company wide induction event which will cover all you need to know about the organisation. Following this you will join the business and will receive a role specific induction too.
Training takes three main forms. Off-the-job training allows you and colleagues to attend formal courses away from work. On-the-job training gives you the chance to learn in real situations, contributing to the work of a team and finally self-teach training involves personal study.
You will also get the opportunity to take part in site visits to enable you to get a broad overview of the business. The experience will help you to network with your client group, understand our ambitions and prepare for any role in the future.
As you develop you will progress into positions of increasing complexity. Your potential, performance and aspirations will be regularly reviewed. Your career advances will, in the main, be driven by you and there are great opportunities for career development, but you don’t have to navigate this on your own.
Mentoring and support
On joining, we'll appoint you a mentor to guide you through the programme, answer any questions and offer you any other advice – professional or personal. They’ll work with your line managers to help you take your development forward, ensuring there is a constant support network. Everyone in your support network will be there to guide you, identify new areas to develop and help you take the next step in your career development.
You will also have a ‘buddy’ – usually a member of our current graduate team – who can share their experiences with you and help settle you in to new working environments and assignments. On top of this you’ll enjoy the benefit of experienced and highly talented professionals around you every step of the way.
Professional accreditation
You will be encouraged and supported to achieve membership of the relevant professional accreditation for your scheme. We will support specific training and development to met the requirements set by the industry institute for example CIMA or CIPD qualifications for Finance and HR.
Where will you take your career?
At the end of the scheme you’ll have a broad range of experience that will stand you in good stead wherever you choose to take your career. Six to nine months before the end of the programme, we'll hold a review session to discuss your future and help you find a permanent role. Your mentor or career manager will also be on hand to support and advise you as you move on to your next role.
Leadership development
In time, if you’re eager to develop into leadership roles you could join a foundation-level management development programme specifically designed to prepare you for just this.
Here you'll learn how to manage projects, deliver powerful presentations and foster effective teams. You’ll also develop new techniques in group problem solving. You’ll learn how to plan strategically. You’ll gain skills in motivation, goal setting, giving feedback – in fact, everything you need to become a great manager of people.
