The 2011 Industrial Placement Schemes are now closed. The 2012 Industrial Placement Schemes will open for applications in the Autumn.

What’s available?

This is an excellent opportunity to join our Sustainability Team as they work to meet our ambitious Sustainability Commitments

Making sure that we deliver on our sustainability initiatives is essential if we are to meet our aspiration of becoming a leader in sustainability. As you help us do this, you’ll work at a wide range of levels in different aspects of the business to improve our sustainability performance company-wide.

What will you do?

As a business we have very significant internal and external reporting. We have to prepare accurate and comprehensive material on the Existing Nuclear fleet of power stations for reporting by EDF Group and EDF Energy in our annual sustainability reports, as well as to monitor internal progress against our commitments. We also participate in a range of benchmarking initiatives such as the BITC Corporate Responsibility Index. You’ll work closely with our Sustainability Adviser on a wide range of exciting, sustainability-focused areas, covering both external reporting and internal delivery.

Why EDF Energy?

EDF Energy boasts expertise in a wide range of energy sources – and across every stage of the energy process: generation, trading, distribution and supply. Through Our Sustainability Commitments we have launched one of the biggest environmental and social programmes of any UK energy company. EDF Energy is the official energy utilities partner and first sustainability partner of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. We’re also helping our customers and others use energy more sustainably through products and initiatives such as Team Green Britain.

Is it for me?

We are looking for undergraduates studying a relevant degree subject, such as sustainability/ sustainable development, corporate responsibility, geography, business studies, economics, engineering or a science. You’ll need a keen interest in the sustainability/corporate responsibility agenda, excellent people skills and a good knowledge of the environmental, social and economic issues facing the electricity industry. On top of this, you’ll need a good commercial awareness and the flexibility to travel to our locations in the UK as necessary (these will mainly be day-trips or require an overnight stay).
