What does it involve?
An industrial placement with our Environmental Safety Group will give you the chance to gain hands-on experience in this crucial aspect of our work at one of our nuclear power stations. As well as developing your knowledge and understanding of radiological and environmental protection it will give you fantastic insight into just how exacting our standards have to be in this uniquely challenging environment.
Tasks you’re likely to be involved with include gathering and comparing data, researching writing reports; so the ability to write clear and concise reports is essential. You may also have the chance to oversee the commissioning of specific equipment and carry out behaviour observations across the plant. Whatever the case, you’ll be reporting directly to the Head of The Environmental Safety Group, so expect to be involved in critical work right from the start.
Who is it for?
You don’t need to be an expert already, but you’ll have a good base understanding from your engineering or science degree. Above all, you’ll need a genuine interest in environmental safety within the nuclear sector, and the desire to take ownership of your experience on the placement. We’re eager for you to achieve a great deal – and we want to see that eagerness reflected in you.
Where is it based?
All Environmental placements are based at our nuclear power station in Dungeness, Kent.
