Environmental

What does it involve?

Quite simply, you won’t find opportunities like these anywhere else in the UK. EDF Energy is in a unique position to lead the UK’s nuclear renaissance: we’re at the forefront of new nuclear build.  We’re also well placed globally: our parent company, EDF Group is involved in major nuclear new builds all over the world – so the possibilities for the future are immense.

This 6 month internship will be based with the construction engineering team and will provide the opportunity to work on the New Build project at Hinkley Point C.  Our Nuclear New Build (NNB) business unit is committed to the delivery of design studies of UK specific structures, buildings and facilities for the new station.  Based on a preliminary analysis, and with the help of EDF expertise in France, the objectives of the internship is to capture the requirements (operations, regulations, etc.), contribute to related studies, and develop a conceptual design for these facilities.

During the internship you will carry out studies and assess the existing designs in line with regulations and requirements to produce engineering reports and briefings for the team.  Stakeholder liaison will be in integral part of this internship both within EDF Energy and with EDF Group.

Who is it for?

You needn’t be an expert already, but you must have a good base understanding from your engineering degree, we are in particular looking for Mechanical, Civil and Layout Engineering  Above all, you’ll need a genuine interest in construction and design within the nuclear sector, and the desire to take ownership of your experience on the placement. We’re eager for you to achieve a great deal – and we want to see that eagerness reflected in you.

Where is it based?

Our Construction Engineering internship will be based at our London Office.
