Nuclear Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme

Applications to the 2012 Scheme are now closed. The 2013 scheme will open in the Autumn.

It’s time to start something amazing. If you’re looking to put together a future in nuclear power, this apprenticeship will give you the skills, confidence and qualifications to join our industry’s next generation.

Our apprenticeship scheme is a four year programme which not only focuses on the skills required to maintain nuclear power stations, but also the attitudes and behaviours that are essential for the safe operation of our plants. Upon completion of the scheme you will be awarded an Advanced Modern Apprenticeship Certificate in Engineering, and you will also have attained an ONC/HNC and an NVQ Level 3.

The Nuclear Engineering Apprentice Scheme runs for four years, the first two years of which are based at the Royal Naval base at HMS Sultan near Portsmouth, Hampshire. During this time you will undergo training in an academic and workshop environment to ensure that you gain an excellent introduction to engineering and initial skills development. Part of this programme also covers the development of your life skills and confidence & communication. You will also be given the chance to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme to challenge yourself and experience new things.
