Setting us apart is the fresh approach we take to the industry; underpinning everything we do with a clear customer focus and a drive towards a sustainable future. Join our Metering Apprenticeship Programme in Bristol, Exeter, London or the South East and see for yourself.
The Apprentice Package
Supported by a talented mentor and dividing your time between the classroom and the field where you’ll visit customers’ homes, you’ll earn the skills, experience and confidence you need to get ahead in the energy industry. Day-to-day that means carrying out practical and theory electrical tasks and developing your core skills, all the while working towards your NVQ level 3 and City & Guilds Technical qualifications. In return for the hard work you put in, you’ll receive a basic salary of around £14,000 in the first year which will increase in the second year subject to your performance. Beyond that, you’ll receive a 3% annual bonus (based on performance), a final salary pension scheme, Company Healthcare Plan and 20 days' annual leave – not to mention all your expenses being paid too.
And, of course, there are the long-term prospects to look forward to at EDF Energy, such as helping change the way our customers use energy for generations to come. So, you can be sure your time on the apprenticeship will stand you in good stead. Just ask some of our senior managers who started on the scheme.
Application Criteria
To apply for the programme, you must not possess formal electrical qualifications. All we ask is that you have a full UK driving licence (with no more than 3 points), a minimum of 5 GCSEs' at C grade or above or equivalent (Maths and English required) and a high level of numeracy and grammar. Depending on which area of the UK you’re from, you’ll need to be within an hour’s drive of one of our training centres. Or, if you’re from the South West, you’ll be required to move into our all expenses paid accommodation near our Energy Field Services Training Centre in Bexleyheath where you’ll enjoy the independence you crave.
