Hinkley Point C: An opportunity to power the future

EDF Energy has published plans to build two new reactors at Hinkley Point in Somerset, subject to the right investment framework.

The reactors would be built next to the existing Hinkley Point A and B stations and would produce enough energy for around five million homes.

Planning consent granted

On 19th March 2013 the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change granted a development consent order to EDF Energy to build and operate Hinkley Point C and associated development. The decision follows the submission of EDF Energy’s application to the Infrastructure Planning Commission (now the Planning Inspectorate) on 31 October 2011.
