Our Wholesale Markets team dynamically manage our energy portfolio

In March 2001, we established our 24-hour trading centre to meet the new opportunities and challenges presented by the New Electricity Trading Arrangements (NETA). NETA created a market where electricity is traded like any other commodity through bi-lateral contracts, where prices are agreed between the two contracting parties, or on power exchanges.

We buy electricity and gas to supply to our customers, manage and sell the output from our generating plants and liaise with National Grid Transco. We also manage our contractual position with generating stations with whom we have Power Purchase Agreements.

We're in constant contact with our own power stations, and manage their operations according to demand and market conditions.
